The Central Skin Sciences Institute

Tarpey Woodfine Architects were appointed by Salts Healthcare to plan and design a new Central Skin Sciences Institute, an independent skin research facility and new education venue for health care professionals within their former production facility.

The Central Skin Sciences Institute (CSSI) is a new purpose-built facility incorporating a research laboratory and treatment rooms that will provide new insights and understanding into the skin health of people living with a stoma. From improving medical provision to driving innovation in the development of medical adhesives, the knowledge will ultimately help enhance the quality of life for people living with a stoma.

The brief called for the creation of a calm and welcoming environment for visitors while also providing strict control of temperature and humidity requirements.
